Our checker bot
When you run a check, our server makes a small number of requests to the domain you entered: /robots.txt and, for the AI-Readiness Check, the homepage. Requests identify themselves as LocalCitedChecker/0.1 with a link to this page. We only fetch the homepage if robots.txt allows it for LocalCitedChecker (or for *). We don't crawl links, follow forms, or try to get around logins, paywalls, CAPTCHAs or firewalls.
To opt out, add this to your robots.txt:
User-agent: LocalCitedChecker Disallow: /
Robots.txt is always fetched, because reading it is how we learn your preferences. Questions or problems: hello@valleyfill.com.
Safety limits
We only fetch public web addresses on standard ports. We refuse IP addresses, internal or reserved names, and domains that resolve to private networks. Each check has a timeout, a size cap (500 KiB for robots.txt, 1 MiB for pages) and at most 4 redirects.
Free daily limit
Each visitor gets 5 free checks per day, shared across the two checkers. The count resets at 00:00 UTC. The schema generator is unlimited because it runs in your browser.
Privacy
- No cookies, no analytics, no ad trackers on these tool pages.
- To count free checks, we combine your IP address with the date and a secret value, then one-way hash the result. We store only that hash and a number. The record is deleted automatically about a day later. We never store your raw IP address.
- We don't save the domains you check or the results.
- The schema generator runs entirely in your browser and sends nothing to us.
- Our web host processes requests to deliver the site and keeps standard server access logs (IP address, time, page requested) for a limited period. The domain you check is sent in the request body, which those logs don't record.
No guarantees
These are basic automated checks. They don't guarantee and can't predict whether any search engine or AI assistant will show or recommend a business. This is general information, not legal or professional advice.
